A new brand of capitalism?

FearLess Revolution, Alex Bogusky’s latest business incarnation, has initiated a new venture called Common. The site is described as “a creative community for rapidly prototyping social ventures. All done under a unified and collaborative brand.”

A COMMON STORY from m ss ng p eces on Vimeo.

It differs from IDEO’s OpenIDEO site, and other collaborative design thinking schemes, by creating a framework for social business ventures to be built collaboratively.

Common seeks to empower consumers who are, as we’ve finally realised, the most powerful, underused, political and economic power in capitalist societies. So if consumers get together to build the Common brand, the value the brand takes on is shared by inter-related businesses, individuals, societies and nature, instead of benefiting a chosen few. It allows businesses created under the Common signifier to be known and rolled out to various countries with the opportunities and recognition that come with a global brand.

It seems timely and ambitious. A story to follow or, better yet, get involved in.
