New York Week: Concerts in the Park

I know, I know, more parks. Well the New York Philharmonic has a lovely programme called, yes, Concerts in the Park. An orchestra in Central Park, hordes of locals and visitors sipping wine and lounging on blankets in the grass, then a fireworks display.

This morning’s downpour abated by early afternoon and allowed the show to take place in beautifully hot weather. As the sun set it even cooled a touch, thanks in part to the surrounding park foliage. Perfect way to spend an evening.

Wednesday evening’s location will remain the same but subsequent performances will take place in Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island and the Bronx in as many days.

I told you parks were important.
