It’s been a busy weekend. Judging for Graphex2010 took place. We’ve received over 350 entries and a panel of esteemed international judges came to Vancouver to award prizes for the most effective communications produced in Canada the past two years. The judges, Julia Hoffmann, Louis Fili, Rolando Diep, Matt Warburton and Mark Randall, presented their work on Friday evening to a good-sized crowd and went on to spend both Saturday and Sunday at Kwantlen University, judging the work.

It lent me the opportunity to get to know the judges and Marc Randall, founder of WorldStudio in New York, reminded me of the studio’s amazing mentorship program called Design Ignites Change. Created in partnership with Adobe’s Youth Voices, the program encourages students to use design thinking & processes to solve social problems.

The site describes the initiative in detail, features some completed projects, promotes participating institutions and boasts an impressive resource section which contains how-to guides for mentors, organisations and students.
